Rahim B. Kanani

Rahim B. Kanani is an author, editor, communications strategist and expert executive interviewer, having conducted more than 600 interviews with the world's most innovative and influential executives on leadership, management and creativity.

With more than 15 years of professional experience spanning the public, private and nonprofit sectors, Rahim currently serves as a digital advisor to the communications department and institutional leadership of the International Monetary Fund. He previously worked for IFC, World Bank, Skoll Foundation, UNDP, UNHCR, Harvard Kennedy School’s Carr Center for Human Rights Policy and Hauser Center for Nonprofits, Fox Pictures/Malala Fund and other organizations.

Rahim’s first book, A WEALTH OF INSIGHT: The World's Best Luxury Hoteliers on Leadership, Management, and the Future of 5-Star Hospitality (2018), profiled more than 35 of the world's best luxury hoteliers on exactly what it takes to lead and manage some of the most legendary hotels and resorts. The book was hailed by top hospitality schools including Cornell, UNLV, Les Roches and others as required reading for all current and future luxury hoteliers. “A Wealth of Insight should be on the coffee table of every hotelier and gifted to every hospitality student upon graduation,” lauded Professor Tony Simons of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.

Rahim’s second book, A WEALTH OF INSIGHT: The World’s Best Chefs on Creativity, Leadership and Perfection (2019), profiled nearly 45 of the world’s best chefs who have collectively amassed nearly 100 Michelin stars, and who regularly appear atop the World's 50 Best Restaurants, La Liste, James Beard and other international rankings and awards. Together, they represent some of the most revered and legendary restaurants on earth. Five-time winner of the World’s Best Restaurant Chef Ferran Adrià of elBulli contributes the foreword, praising A Wealth of Insight as the "first-ever comprehensive and authentic exploration of originality in contemporary cuisine, and a true world atlas of creativity and innovation of the 21st century kitchen."

Over the years, Rahim has interviewed more than 600 of the world's most innovative, influential and award-winning executives on leadership, management and creativity. Notable interviewees have included billionaires Jeff Skoll, Michael Bloomberg, Tory Burch, Eli Broad and David M. Rubenstein, world-renowned chefs Eric Ripert, Daniel Humm, José Andrés, and the late Anthony Bourdain, musical artists Alicia Keys, Madonna, and Shakira, Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron, then Harvard University President Drew Faust, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel of Saudi Arabia. Rahim previously served as a leadership contributor to Forbes and Thomson Reuters Foundation, while also authoring or editing articles and interviews published in Harvard Business Review, CNN Opinion, Financial Times, Fast Company, Food & Wine and others.

Earlier, Rahim served as an advisory council member, alongside the Dean of Yale Divinity School and other leaders, to the Centre on Religion and Geopolitics housed in former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's faith foundation.

Rahim studied philosophy at Western University, global politics at the London School of Economics, and religion, ethics, and politics at Harvard Divinity School. A native of Vancouver, Canada, Rahim resides in Washington, DC.
